Since starting his career in 1986, Tom has taken on several roles within the health and social care sector. He initially volunteered as a carer for elderly care, before he was inspired to complete his nurse training, qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1990.
Once he had qualified, Tom worked as a staff nurse in intensive care but was drawn back to his first love, elderly care. He left the NHS and progressed to a career within the independent care sector, starting as a deputy home manager, then an operations director, working with both private equity providers and charity care providers.
Tom’s desire to move from an extensive career of operational roles to take on the position of Chief Executive Officer at Valorum Care, was based on his grass roots passion for quality care. He believes a passion for care is the fundamental principal behind everything, whether it is caring for the elderly, younger people with mental health or learning needs, or people with a physical disability.

Over the years, Paula has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience thanks to her varied roles within the public and independent sector. This experience has become invaluable at Valorum Care, where Paula oversees an inclusive service which keeps everyone involved and informed throughout every step of their care journey.
Paula is passionate about ensuring care is delivered to the highest quality, and believes the knowledge, skills and experience she has gained over the years should be shared with colleagues so they can develop their abilities.
