Champion House | Leeds

Champion House Clara Drive, Calverley, Pudsey LS28 5QP

Champion House is a residential nursing home providing support for 27 physically disabled adults.

We specialise in supporting people who have varying needs as a result of physical and long term neurological conditions including cerebral palsy, brain injury, Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida & hydrocephalus and stroke.

Our Registered Nurse teams are highly skilled and trained to deliver specialist and complex nursing care and have significant experience with tracheostomy, PEG care, wound management and the provision of end of life care. The full-time support we provide is flexible and designed to help build skills, inspire confidence and encourage people to live more independently.

We work directly with each individual to develop a personalised support programme based on their needs, wishes and aspirations. This includes personal care, health & wellbeing programmes, community engagement, enablement, volunteering & activities and respite services.

I have worked within social care for 26 years, I have a vast amount of experience supporting people with learning difficulties, Challenging behaviour, older people, and young Adults with Physical difficulties with varying medical health requirements. I started my career as a support worker working in an adults respite service, then continued to progress into management roles, I have had some fabulous opportunities and experiences, meeting some amazing people and see people have great quality care, and reaching personal outcomes they never thought they would be able to.

I have gained a vast amount of management knowledge and experience over the years within a variety of support services, residential services for adult and older people, supported living services, respite support services, day care and domiciliary support services. This includes managing established services, creating diverse new support services and making improvements to poor performing services. I am passionate about my role, staff and the people we support, every day is different, has different challenges and new obstacles, but as a team we rise above and beyond to make a real difference.

I strive to keep abreast of new initiatives, theories, and pride myself in to always rise to new challenges, these are integral to ensure continuous improvement and positive outcomes for individuals and the organisation.
